Pleasant Gap is a borough in Centre County, Pennsylvania, United States. The community is located in the Nittany Valley along Pennsylvania Route 144, approximately 8 miles (13 km) north of State College. As of the 2010 census, the borough population was 1,521.
The town's name originates from a natural break in the nearby Nittany Mountain range where the Little Nittany and Spring Creek valleys converge. The area was originally settled in the late 18th century by Europeans who were attracted to the fertile land.
Pleasant Gap is home to the Gray's Woods Elementary School, Mount Nittany Middle School, and Central Pennsylvania Institute of Science and Technology. The village also has a post office, a library, and several local businesses including grocery stores, restaurants, and shops.
Pleasant Gap is surrounded by natural beauty, with nearby attractions including the Mount Nittany Conservancy, Black Moshannon State Park, and Penns Creek. The area is also renowned for its outdoor recreational opportunities, including hiking, fishing, camping, and hunting.
